UUUUUU was the bedroom project by a then 15 year old Derek McArthur. There is something spectacularly rich about this project. This track, taken from the EP "Cossacks in Fields of White Roses", is a 7 song enveloping experience, slowly travelling through deep ambience, experimental and ghostly orchestral piano refrains. To hear, at times it sounds like you're sat in a seat in a theatre, listening to one person on a stage, playing some of the most delicate and beautiful piano music that is reverberating around the room with such a shimmer and warmth that it transcends your physicality into a certain one-ness with the music that only that kind of music can deliver. And then at other times, the sound takes an etherial twist and suddenly it feels like that transcendence takes you to a long field with a whispering air and a beautiful breeze that reminds you for hundreds of different experiences throughout your life.

The reason why I chose this episode from this piece is because of how heart-wrenching it is in comparison with the others. The rest of the EP is a lot more uplifting, whereas this aches with mourning and sadness. Halfway it jumps and takes a turn, not unlike a lot of the songs on this EP, a swirl of soundscape. The nice thing about this EP is how consistent it feels, it never feels messy despite it's ambiguous nature. It has a level of consideration and intelligence about it that makes it all the more satisfying and brilliant.
